Siachen Braveheart Lance Naik Hanamanthappa is No More
3 days after being miraculously rescued from 35 ft of concrete snow, Hanamanthappa breathed his last on Thursday at 11:45 Am. Out of the 10 soldiers who got stuck in the avalanche, he was the only person who made his way through 6 days and was found alive with a pulse. He is survived by his wife, Mahadevi Ashok Bilebal, and a two-year-old daughter. Hanamanthappa belonged to the 19 Madras regiment of the Army, Hanamanthappa hailed from Karnataka. He managed to survive -45 degrees Celsius temperature for 6 days. A medical bulletin on Wednesday said that “Hanamanthappa was in extremely critical condition with evidence of oxygen deprivation to the brain and pneumonia in both lungs."His multi-organ dysfunction state continues unabated. His condition has deteriorated despite aggressive therapy and supportive care," the bulletin added.
