Rustom Trailer! Powerful. Gripping. Thrilling. This Trailer Has It All

The Khiladi of Bollywood Akshay Kumar is back! The official trailer of Akshay Kumar’s anticipated film Rustom is out. The trailer looks promising. The trailer opens in 1959 Mumbai where Akshay Kumar plays Rustom Pavri who killed his wife’s lover and Ileana D’Cruz stars as Akshay’s wife. The lover who is murdered has been named Vikram Makhija in the film. As the case unfolds in the trailer, we discover there’s much more to the saga: Conspiracy, blackmail, patriotism along with murder are the plots this three minute long trailer left us with.

The Plot Rustom is the story of Naval Officer KM Nanavati, who murdered his wife’s lover Prem Ahuja and subsequently turned himself in. The Nanavati case was fascinating for various reasons, it led to the abolishing of the jury system in India, created friction between two communities (the Parsis to which Nanavati belonged and Sindhis to which Ahuja belonged) and the role the media played in shaping  public perception of the case and its principal parties. Nanavati was released from prison after three years, with the efforts of a number of people working on his behalf. He went on to live in Canada with his wife and their three children, and passed away in 2003. However, while the Rustom trailer certainly brings out some of those aspects, it also introduces an angle of whether or not the main character was a patriot or a traitor, there are hints of some form of military spying that he carried out, or threatened to, perhaps to secure his freedom. After giving fans a taste of patriotism at the start of the year with Airlift, Akshay Kumar will be seen donning the naval uniform in this as he plays Commander Rustom Pavri. The film which carries the tag line ‘3 shots that shocked the nation’ seems to be power-packed with suspense and thriller. #RustomTrailer This trailer looks promising.
