Indian shooter Jitu Rai won the gold for the 50m air pistol event at the ISSF World Cup in Bangkok, edging past former Olympic champion Wei Pang.
Jitu Rai, who has been recovering from a palm injury since several months, entered the final by finishing third at the end of 60 shot qualifying series. Though Jitu did not have a good start in the 20 end final, he still remained one of the top three contestants throughout the match along with Chinese shooters Wei Pang and Wang Zhiwei. The Indian shooter took the lead after the 13th and 14th shots as the other two lagged towards the end of the final.
Jitu Rai finished with a score of 191.3, with Wei Pang bagging the silver at 186.5 and Zhiwei at 165.8.
