Too often vegan food has been criticized and made fun of. It’s time to show them all what we’ve got! Being a vegan may seem difficult, but it’s totally worth it. And if you’re worried about food that doesn’t taste good, stop right there and consider this: delicious vegan burgers!
These vegan burgers are loaded with veggies, are super healthy and tasty. Try them out with whole meal buns and you’re good to go:
1. Chickpea and sweet corn burger
Spin chickpeas, sweet corn, coriander, spices, lemon zest and a bit of salt in the food processor. Form them into patties and refrigerate them for half an hour to make sure they’re firm enough, and fry!
2. Barbecue tofu burger
Prepare a barbecue rub by putting together dry mustard, onion powder, paprika, garlic powder, cumin and pepper in a bowl. For barbecue sauce, combine ketchup, minced sweet onions, coconut sugar, garlic, rice vinegar, black pepper and a bit of the BBQ rub in a saucepan and bring to boil. Coat the tofu with the remaining rub, bake, then cover it with the sauce, and grill.
3. Kidney bean burger
Mash some kidney beans and add oats, marinade, garlic, the white bit of a green onion, onion powder, spinach, nutritional yeast, and sunflower and pumpkin seeds, and mix. Form patties and heat them on a skillet till they’re crispy and brown. Tasty burgers for the win!
4. Chickpea and lentil burger
Boil lentils, drain them, and add to your food processor, along with the chickpeas. Add roasted red pepper, salt, taco spice, cumin seeds, lemon juice, and pulse till you get a coarse mixture. Transfer it to a bowl, add salt and spice, and mix in garlic, oil, cilantro and onion. Put in some flour if the mixture is too wet, coat the patties in bread crumbs and fry!
5. Black bean burger
Process oats and pumpkin seeds, grate carrots and add it to the processor. Put in black beans, cinnamon, cumin, chili powder, coriander, onion powder and cayenne pepper with a bit of olive oil, and mix it all together. Form them into patties and grill them. These vegan burgers are delicious, so there’s no chance you’re going to find them bland!
6. Potato veggie burger
Potatoes are such all-rounders! Mash some black beans, and then add grated carrots and potatoes, diced onion, corn, and mix. Add salt to taste, make patties and fry them until golden and crisp.
7. Mushroom bean burger
Mushrooms are similar in taste and texture to meat, so if you’re not a vegan but you still want to try it out, this should be your go-to recipe! Mash some black beans, put in sautéed onions, garlic and mushrooms, and add parsley, salt and pepper. Shape them into thick patties and cook them until they’re done.
8. Baked broccoli burger
Adding broccoli to your diet is the best thing you can do when it comes to health. Steam broccoli till it’s very soft. In a skillet, add onions and scallions to hot olive oil and stir. Remove them from the heat and stir in cumin. Combine the onion mix, couscous, sesame tahini, chickpeas and broccoli in a food processor. Blitz the mixture and add bread crumbs to it before forming it into patties and then bake! We love how this burger is so healthy!
9. Falafel veggie burger
Add chickpeas along with chickpea flour, parsley, chopped green onions, garlic, coriander, lemon juice and salt, and process it until it’s all mixed well. Add some more chickpeas and some sundried tomatoes and spin it a couple of times. If it’s too wet, put in a little extra chickpea flour. That’s about it! Shape them into patties and cook them until they’re slightly browned.
