If there’s one thing you could spend your entire life doing, it would be traveling! And who can blame you? Living out of a backpack is the kind of life you want to live, right? Seeing new monuments, scaling mountains in every country and soaking in diverse cultures is all you want to do all day, every day!
Sounds like you are ready to take your passion for traveling to the next level! If you are someone who’s planning to pursue their love for all things travel full-time, then there are some things you need to know of before you make the leap. Why? Because you should know what you are in for! And just to help you out a bit, here’s some advice from some full-time travelers across the globe:
- Planning is everything
Sure, you can for a spontaneous party you are invited while you are traveling. And obviously you can change your day’s plan if something more interesting pops up! But an entire trip without planning well in advance? A strict NO!
- Lonely profession
Traveling alone does sound like the dream job all of us want to have, but is it really as good as it seems to be? While seeing new things and places all alone does have its beautiful perks, the journey is bound to get lonely from time to time. And since none of your friends and family will be around, it will only get more difficult to deal with the loneliness.
- Gearing up for a rough ride
Up, down, up, down, down, down. Yes, your emotions are going to be exactly like the rocky roads you travel on. If you thought it was going to be a smooth AF ride, please get a reality check before you set out with your backpack!
While you are out traveling in a foreign country all by yourself, you’ll suddenly start missing the chilling sessions with friends and family dinners you were forced to attend! And scrolling through their Facebook and Instagram feeds won’t help either!
- Sort it all out
What are you going to do about your finances? What about your current job? What about everything you are leaving behind? Sort everything out before you set on the big journey, please, or regret it later!
- Tire you down
Your body will be exhausted, your mind will be fed up, but that doesn’t mean you have to give up. No matter where you are or what you are doing in life, things will wear you down. You only have to be prepared to deal with the consequences!
- Anti-social tendencies
No matter how much you missed all your friends, you are definitely not going to be up for partying every alternate night once you’re back. Why? Because traveling will make you anti-social. It’s tough, but you will learn to get over it.
- Forming a community
Despite the fact that you love being alone, you will form some memorable friendships while you are out on the road. You will always have time to mingle with other travelers and bond over your experiences! Definitely a reason to leave your desk job!
- More lessons than a textbook
All those days you had on your last trip? Treat them as lessons in disguise because they are nothing less than that. A hotel cancellation, a miscommunication about your train schedule, every single incident will teach you some essential life lessons!
Hesitant to travel alone? Not when you can enjoy so many perks!
